This area was in serious need of revamping as the grass was all dead and the muddy patch was ever-growing. With the decking area already there, it seemed senseless not to put some fresh artificial grass next to it to compliment the whole garden.

All of the tools were unloaded and ready to use. As you can see in the wheelbarrow, and on the decking, there is 2×2″ wood to create a border around the area we will be putting the grass.
Once the border is installed and in place, the area gets filled with a MOT type 1 stone. This is then compressed to a harder, smoother surface using a wacker plate to allow drainage beneath the grass.
After that, it is topped up with a thin layer of sand, to keep the grass levelled and evenly surfaced.
Preventative measures are also put in place by covering the surface with a weed proof membrane, to stop any unwanted plants getting through, helping to maintain that equal level.
Once the grass has been tucked into the wooden border and secured down, we sprinkle sand into the top layer and use a heavy-duty power brush to make the grass stand up and look even more realistic.
This is the finished outcome.
